Jersey Shore cast member "Mike the situation" banned/offered money to not wear Abercrombie and Fitch fashion brand?

Legally banned?
No,however under California's Fair use law, TV shows need approval to air logos and labels and may get into trouble if they are used without permission from the owner of the intellectual property. It has already happened before,Fellow MTV star Gary Shirley of Teen Mom was recently asked by Aeropostale to stop wearing their shirts for fear of ruining thier "image" now in this particular case the only action taken by Abercrombie and Fitch was a cash offer of an unknown amount to Mike Sorrentino otherwise known by his famous nickname "The situation".Still there is no information regarding whether or not they have come to an agreement. With comments like “This association is contrary to the aspirational nature of our brand, and may be distressing to many of our fans,” it is clear that MTV and the hit reality TV show Jersey Shore is on the A&F company "DO NOT AIR" list for their popular fashion product line.
The Fitchuation
Whats to come of the situation?
Currently Mike Sorrentino isn't the only one who has been offered money in exchange for letting go of the brand over television. The rest of the cast who finds Abercrombie and Fitch a stylish fashion brand has also been asked by the company. But still no public response has been released, well see if they still wear the brand on upcoming episodes. It would be interesting to know just how much they are really willing to pay for this..Any guesses?Since its currently "Confidential information" amongst the celebrity world we can only wonder.I would say anything from a few thousand dollars and up is a likely amount, and wouldn't be surprised if it reaches 5 digits...The only question i have is why hasn't legal action been taken against the cast or show?A&F clearly has the right to protect the image they've worked so hard for if they really think it is in so much "danger" from becoming exposed to hardcore partying, drinking and cigarette smoking.Others think differently about the real reason behind these requests.
Why there are rumors of being a scheme
The fourth season of jersey shore premiered just recently, reaching as high as 8.8 million viewers!!Breaking a 30 year record for most watched season premiere on MTV!!!
WOW..talk about advertisement,I'm sure it is really expensive to have to pay for showing off your product to that many people. And if i like the shirt , hey ill buy it why do i care who i see wearing it??If its the guy doing the hardcore partying at the club in Miami beach,or the alcoholic homeless man laying on the bench across the street from the club it doesn't change the way i look in it so good for them. They might have not thought it out so well due to the consequences of their stock dropping by 9%!!!Was it a backfire?Maybe.
With so many viewers who wouldn't want some way to be involved in the show?If you want to get your message across,to get your brand across the world,or to show it off, I'm sure that will do the trick....So am i convinced? Not until i actually see a change in the Jersey Shore team's fashion i wont be.Especially with Abercrombie's Jersey Shore themed clothing being brought into the picture, since last year when they were making money from the jersey shore crew with shirts with slogans like "The Fitchuation" ..No way I'm buying that story.
